First Night

Hi Family,

The first night at Fort Hunter Liggett was not too bad....other than the cold.

Our tents are not heated so once the temperature dropped, the tents got cold. We're in the valley somewhere in Lockwood, CA. The temperature during the day is arou nd 70 deg and at night it drops to about 40 deg. Thank God for warm sleeping bags.

After being released from final formation, we went back to the tent and prepared for bed. I changed in to my cold weather PT uniform; long pants and long shirt. Since my tent alos lacks power, I could not stay up and watch SNL, Comedy Central, or re0-runs of the Real Housewives of New York before going to bed. The good thing was I did go to sleep rather quickly. I think it was my body adjusting to the time difference. My clock said 2130 (9PM) but my body was saying midnight.

I drifted off to sleep thinking of my loved ones back home especially my two guys; Kwame and Brian.

Army work awaits me in the AM....day 1 done, 19 to go!

  1. Clearly, if you did not bring power, a special A/V tent to hold all your equipment, and a Rock Band setup, you are not camping!
